Pioneer is a terrific choice - great boats! Islander is probably the best bet to accommodate both fishing and family activities... i also think that Scout is very similar to Pioneer. The Scout 215 XSF is very nice (I have one - so biased - I admit). Like the Islander it is a great blend for both family and fishing, which is what we needed.

Aug 8, 2007 · Pioneer is a pretty young company, they have put out just over 1200 unsinkable, lifetime warr. boats total so far. They have alot of stuff that is considered upgrades from other mfg's like pop-up cleats, all double clamped, all ss thruhulls, ss rubrails, etc. I think you'd have to look hard to find anyone that isnt happy with their pioneer.

The Pioneer seems to have an overall better fit and finish, but a couple of differences are making my decision difficult. First thing is the SH is about 1.5ft longer than the Pioneer- so a bigger boat. The standard motor on the Pioneer is a Suzuki 150- which the dealer assured me will meet my needs.

pioneer islander 202 is the longest by 5 and 6 inches scout has the widest beam at 8’6” while the pioneer and Grady are at 8’2” pioneer is the lightest at 1900 pounds. Grady is 2360 and scout is 2150. Pioneer and scout draft 13” and the Grady at 14” essentially these are all 3 very similar boats and I am torn at this time.

Pioneer markets the boat as a 197 because the centerline length is 19'7" if you don't count the little bump-out at the transom where the motor attaches (19'10" LOA). The Pioneer is heads and shoulders above the Tidewater, same dealer that sells Scout stocks them too. Those boats are rough. Sea Hunt, Mako, Cobia and KW are all lesser boats. Owned an Original Mako its why I looked at them, won't have another one. Didn't like the ride of the Cobia, felt hollow.

We have a 2006 Pioneer 197 Venture and have absolutely LOVED it. Yamaha 150 EFI 4-stroke and it will do 45 MPH. These hulls are built to take a beating- I primarily run it in Lake Norman and it is very funny to see all those other lake boats getting tossed around and the Pioneer never has ANY trouble. Would highly recommend Pioneer boats to anyone.

Thank you. Had sea trial on Sea Fox on a really rough day and seemed good and have sea trial tomorrow on the pioneer. Sea Fox is a 2020 and Pioneer is a 2019 leftover from a dealer who has dropped pioneer. The 2019 is priced to sell with but worries me that dealer dropped them and no other local dealers around
